Southern Katafuji Lake (Yoshida Dam)

A dam lake created by damming the Kitakami River. The dam side is 50m high and 480m long. Mt. Iwate (also known as Southern Katafuji) is reflected on the surface of the lake. 30 minutes by bus from Morioka Station.

Mizusawa Park

The landscaping of Mizusawa Park is said to have been created in 1878 by Minomushi Yamato, a wandering painter and landscape architect. Today, Mizusawa Park is home to more than 500 cherry trees in full bloom, including a cluster of 300-year-old higan cherry trees that have been designated a natural monument by the prefecture. There is also a bronze statue of Minoru Saito in the park. The park is a popular place for citizens to relax throughout the four seasons.

Kuzumaru River Stream

The 6-kilometer-long stream has the famous Ichinotaki Falls and Mitsukura, and offers beautiful scenery throughout the four seasons, making it ideal for bird watching, forest bathing, mountain stream fishing, and autumn leaf peeping. Best time to view the autumn foliage: Late October to early November

Reverse Hiba

The straight diameter of the trunk is nearly 2 meters, and the tree is several hundred years old. The branches are dignified and there are anecdotes related to Kobo Daishi. It is said that the tree took root on a stick that was left behind when traveling around the world, and it continued to grow.

Nakano Shirataki

Nakano Shirataki is a large waterfall with two tiers, the upper waterfall is 27 meters high and 8 meters wide, and the lower waterfall is 6 meters high and 12 meters wide. There is also a promenade leading from the waterfall to the sea, where you can enjoy hiking.

Fuefuki Pass

This is a mountain pass that runs from Tono to Kamaishi City and Otsuchi Town.In the past, seafood carried from Otsuchi was exchanged for rice, charcoal, etc. carried from Tono at the Utsugiba in Wayama down Fuefuki Pass. was walking along the mountain pass while leading his horse. It was also called Mimikiri Pass because in winter, the wind blows so cold that it cuts your ears.

Takizawa Otaki

A 20-meter-high, 15-meter-wide waterfall surrounded by virgin forest behind Takizawa Shrine. Surrounded by forest, its appearance is impressive for its quietness and mysterious atmosphere. (Bus from Morioka to Taneichi: 3 services a day.) Transfer at Hachinohe Station on the jr Tohoku Main Line.

window rock

It is an artistic rock formation created by the rough sea of the north. The window that opened in the center of the rock over a long period of time is a wonder of nature. Transfer at Hachinohe Station on the JR Tohoku Honsen Line and get off at Taneichi Station on the JR Hachinohe Line.

Yamato no Oka Forest Park

Yamato no Oka Forest Park is located in the middle of Kujihira-dake Mountain. The view from the viewpoint, Chibi Plaza, offers a panoramic view of more than 270 degrees, refreshing with the lush greenery of Taneichi and the blue of the ocean. The plaza also has a slide and other playground equipment, perfect for families. The park has a campground with wooden decks and an administration building with shower rooms, allowing visitors to enjoy a comfortable outdoor life. Transfer at Hachinohe Station on the JR Tohoku Main Line and get off at Taneichi Station on the JR Hachinohe Line.

Inari hole

The water that gushes out of the 1,000m deep limestone cave has been selected as one of Iwate's top 20 waters, and the water is used to cultivate wasabi root, with the largest production volume in the Tohoku region. There are also rest areas and campgrounds nearby.

Aharayama Plateau

Located between Yomogna-yama and Taneyama Plateau, and home to the Abarayama Municipal Pasture, the azalea colony is in full bloom from late May to mid-June, creating a wonderful contrast between the vivid green and vermilion colors. Take the Esashi City Bus to the Babazaki bus stop on the Ite Koujiya Kuchisawa Line (via Kami-Ite), or take the JR Tohoku Shinkansen bullet train from Mizusawa Esashi Station to the Esashi Bus Center bus stop on the Iwate-ken Kotsu Esashi Fujiwara no Sato Line, and change buses.

Atagoyama Nature Park

There are many rare plants in its distribution, and the Ite River flows around it. The site of Numajiri Castle is located here, and Atago Shrine, built by Tamuramaro Sakagami, is on the summit of the mountain. Take the Esashi City Bus, Ite Koujiya Kuchisawa Line (via Kami-Ite) to the Fujisato bus stop, get off at JR Tohoku Shinkansen Mizusawa Esashi Station, and transfer at the Esashi Bus Center bus stop bound for Iwate-ken Kotsu Esashi Fujiwara no Sato.
