Okoda Shrine

It has been deeply worshiped by the local people as ``Omyoken-sama'' since ancient times, and it is said that Minamoto no Yoriyoshi dedicated the ``Dowaniguchi'', the oldest inscribed Waniguchi in this prefecture, and the one worn by Sadato Abe. It houses cultural properties designated by the prefecture, such as the ``Golden Bronze Maedate.'' The carvings in the main hall are worth seeing. The Somin Festival is held in early January every year.

Wooden Kannon Bodhisattva Seated Statue

The statue, which is 114.3 centimeters tall and is enshrined at Higashisen-in in Ichinoseki City, is made of coniferous wood and finished with lacquered wood. It shows the sculptural style of the late Heian period, and is thought to have been created by a Buddhist sculptor who was involved in the construction of a temple in Hiraizumi during the third Fujiwara era in Oshu. The carvings are excellent, and the statue is in good condition as an inscribed statue, and it is one of the few in the prefecture that has all three parts: halo, pedestal, and Dharmakaya. In 2018, it was designated as a national important cultural property.

Murone Shrine

Murone Shrine is located at the 8th station of Mt. Murone, and is dedicated to two shrines: ``Hongu'' and ``Shingu.'' Approximately 1,290 years ago, a branch spirit was enshrined at Kishu Kumano Taisha Shrine in Wakayama Prefecture by Azuma Ono as a place of prayer for the Ezo subjugation, and since then it has been revered as the guardian of the communities around Mt. Murone, and it is said that Sakanoue no Tamuramaro and Minamoto no Yoshitsune have also prayed here. It has been. At the Murone Shrine Special Festival, mikoshi from two shrines compete to be the first to arrive and run down Mt. Murone. There are also 33 Kannon statues enshrined on the grounds.
