The Sarugaishi River, which originates from Mt. Yakushi, flows through the center of the Tono Basin, with water filtered from the Kitakami Mountains. It is known as a ``treasure trove of freshwater fish'' (sweetfish, haya, yamame, etc.) and is popular with many anglers throughout the year.

Inari hole

The water that gushes out of the 1,000m deep limestone cave has been selected as one of Iwate's top 20 waters, and the water is used to cultivate wasabi root, with the largest production volume in the Tohoku region. There are also rest areas and campgrounds nearby.

Mataichi Falls and Fudo Falls

Mataichi Falls, located halfway up Mt. Yakushi, is 20 meters high and 5 meters wide, and above it is a long, flat river bed made up of a huge monolith. In addition, there is a Fudo Falls at the bottom of Yakushido, which is upstream. At the base of Fudo Falls, there is a stone that is said to have been placed by Jikaku Daishi to resemble the Fudo Sanzon. 40 minutes by car or 20 minutes on foot from JR Kamaishi Line Tono Station
